Job role: FLT Driver (Counterbalance)
Location: Monmouth
Hours: 8-5 Monday to Friday but one Saturday 9-12 every 3 weeks
Salary: £12.80 per hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. This role involves operating various types of vehicles, handling materials, and supporting warehouse operations to facilitate smooth supply chain processes.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles, including lorries and vans, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper handling and securement of items
- Assist with warehouse management system updates, recording deliveries, pickups, and inventory movements accurately
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and minor repairs to ensure optimal operational condition
- Handle materials with care, including heavy lifting and precise placement within storage areas
- Support shipping and receiving activities by coordinating schedules and verifying shipment contents
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the vehicle and loading areas to promote safety and efficiency
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and clients regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during transit
Requirements
- Valid driving licence suitable for operating company vehicles (e.g., lorry licence or equivalent)
- Proven experience in warehouse management system utilisation, materials handling, or logistics roles
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle maintenance and equipment repair
- Experience operating forklifts or other warehouse equipment is highly desirable
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to perform basic maths for inventory counts and measurements
- Physical capability to undertake heavy lifting tasks regularly throughout shifts
- Prior experience in shipping & receiving operations within a warehouse environment is preferred
- Good communication skills, reliability, and a commitment to safety standards are essential for success in this role
