Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented FMCG Category Lead for a global retailer opening their first store in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the product categories within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. This includes driving sales growth, enhancing product assortment, negotiating with suppliers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. The role demands a deep understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape within the FMCG sector.
Responsibilities:
Category Management:
- Create and execute category strategies to meet sales, profitability, and market share targets.
- Study market trends, consumer behaviors, and competitor actions to shape category plans.
- Enhance product assortment, pricing, and promotional tactics.
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Negotiate terms and contracts with suppliers and distributors to secure favorable pricing and promotional support.
- Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery and high-quality products.
- Oversee supplier performance and address any arising issues.
Sales and Marketing:
- Work with sales and marketing teams to plan and implement promotional activities.
- Design engaging marketing campaigns to boost consumer interest and sales growth.
- Track and evaluate sales performance, modifying strategies as needed.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing surplus stock.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to forecast demand and plan for seasonal fluctuations.
- Implement efficient inventory control measures to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Coordinate with finance, supply chain, and operations teams to align category plans with overall business goals.
- Lead cross-functional projects to foster category innovation and growth.
- Present category performance and insights to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in category management, preferably within the FMCG industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in supplier management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and category management software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on achieving results.
