Job role: Manual Lathe Operator

Location: Cwmbran

Hours: 7.30am to 4pm (1/2Hr Lunch + 15 min paid break) Friday 7.30am to 11.30am

Salary: £15.00 per hour

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Manual Lathe Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and be proficient in various machining processes. This role involves the operation of manual machines to produce precision components, ensuring high-quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Machine one-off and small batch components (up to 3 tons in weight)
• Operate manual centre lathes and use appropriate tooling to produce components to specification
• Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
• Work to tight tolerances and high standards of precision
• Set tools competently and understand appropriate cutting speeds and feeds

Skills & Competencies:

• Excellent attention to detail
• Proficient in using measurement and inspection tools, including:
• Verniers
• Bore gauges
• Micrometers
• Strong understanding of machining best practices and quality control
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organised work environment
• Milling
• Welding

Other Requirements:

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards and procedures
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude
• Manual lathes
• Semi-CNC lathes
• Ideally possesses additional experience in:
• Milling
• Welding
