Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client has been operating for over 20 years in their site in Port Talbot. With a state-of-the-art facility manufacturing various personal healthcare products our client strives for excellence in their operations.
What will you be doing?
· Interpretation of artwork needs for printing process
· Communicate with customers to achieve approval
· Control the storage of lithographic materials for use by the Production Department
· Prepare print boxes and issue printing instructions for use by the Production Department
· Manufacture print plates
· Prepare print boxes for production
· Check artwork on computer using multiple design software
· Uploading/ downloading artwork onto FTP sites
· Uploading/ downloading proofs onto multiple customer systems
· Inputting formulas onto technical sheets for production
· Ordering print plate material and necessary materials when required for the department
· Record information regarding turnaround of jobs during origination
· Housekeeping of artwork on computer
· Housekeeping of digital plates when damaged or marked during production
· In-house training on MAC, screenwork, trapping
· Checking weekly forward schedule and daily schedule for new products
· Log storage of proofing samples and artwork until approved by customer
· Send information regarding print plates requirement, colours and cost to customers for approval prior to proceeding with origination
· Ensure proofer has all relevant material
· Discuss and prepare all trial artwork jobs with Pre-Press Manager and Lead Printer
· Supporting Pre-Press Manager with new projects within the department (eg new plate technology)
· Attending pre-launch meetings with wider Envases Production Teams to discuss samples prior to origination
Skills & Knowledge
· Ability to differentiate between colours (essential)
· Excellent communication skills (both orally and written with internal stakeholders and external customers (essential)
· Good IT skills
· Experience of lithography or origination (desirable)
· Driven with a good eye for detail
