JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Operator Inspector is to ensure that work is prepared, processed and inspected in accordance with requirements. The role will include a variety of tasks from preparation operations to the operation of various surface treatment processes. It will also involve the inspection of work in accordance with specified standards and requirements. The activities associated with this role are integral to the company’s production output and are vital to meet the business vision; “Delivering Excellence as the Surface Treatment Partner of Choice”

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the careful handling and movement of components throughout the production process to ensure no damage occurs
  • Ensure all process and production documentation is completed accurately and submitted as required
  • Adhere to quality standards to meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Prepare components as instructed, or as per drawing requirement, prior to processing, using various masking techniques
  • Perform basic racking/jigging to production parts prior to treatment
  • Unmask production parts, as specified, ensuring no damage occurs to components
  • Clean components as necessary using specified materials
  • Process components meticulously and as instructed (as per drawing requirement/job card) using various processing techniques
  • Maintain the accurate recording of components (maintaining consistency re. the serialisation of customer components throughout production)
  • Inspection of components to drawing / specification, to include some basic direct measurement techniques
  • Take responsibility for the safe operation and basic maintenance of the production area
  • Work flexibly across departments as required by the business
  • Take part in external, customer and accreditation body audits as required
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Line Manager or as per the requirements of the business

Requirements

  • Able to read, interoperate and carry out technical work instructions
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete detailed traceability requirements as part of the documentation process
  • Identify parts with printed and/or electronic pictures
  • Efficient and effective working – managing time to prioritise production deadlines
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills – working with others to provide information they need to complete tasks and eliminate production delays
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Working flexibly and collaboratively across various departments and processes as required
  • Sound literacy and numerical skills

Knowledge & Experience (all desired but not essential as full training will be provided)

  • Previous experience or understanding of surface treatment processes
  • Experience working with engineering/ visual / technical plans
  • Experience working with tools, equipment and materials in a chemical environment
  • Experience of inspection techniques including the operation of basic direct measurement equipment
  • Experience working to quality standards within an aerospace manufacturing environment
