Job role: Production Operative (Afternoons regular)

Location: Pontypool

Hours: Afternoons: 2:30pm - 10pm Monday to Thursday and 1pm - 5:30pm on Friday

Salary: £12.21 per hour starting rate

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Machine Operator/Production Operative to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating various machinery and equipment to produce high-quality products efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience with manufacturing equipment, and a commitment to maintaining quality standards. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic production environment where precision, safety, and productivity are paramount.

Duties

  • Operate a range of manufacturing machinery including CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, flexo presses, and press brake machines with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment using technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM programming tools to ensure accurate production runs.
  • Monitor machine operation throughout the production process, making adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on machinery such as Fanuc controls and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and other tools to verify dimensions and ensure products meet specifications.
  • Handle materials safely within the manufacturing facility, including materials handling, fabrication, and packaging tasks.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints for assembly line operations or fabrication projects.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in tooling setup and changeovers for different production runs to optimize throughput.
  • Support quality control activities by inspecting finished products against specifications.

Experience

  • Proven factory or manufacturing facility experience with hands-on operation of is.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers), and basic math skills for measurements.
  • Warehouse experience or materials handling skills are advantageous.
